Which Pages Should Website Have?

A 5 page website is the status quo nowadays, leading to websites which are simple and quickly give the visitor the information that they are looking for. However, how do you know which pages your 5 page website should have? Here is a guide of the most essential 5 pages for your website.

Home Page
Every website needs to have a home page. This is the page where most visitors to your website will go to when searching for your business or yourself and depending on what your site is optimised for, it could be where most of your website’s traffic comes from.

This means that the home page needs to include overviews of each of the remaining pages to give enough information to interest the visitor but not too much where the visitor gets overwhelmed. These shorter overviews will then link to the individual pages, for example, a short description about you will then link to the longer about page.

The home page needs to be clearly broken up into sections so that the visitor can easily navigate the home page and find what they are looking for. This page also needs lead magnets as it will most likely be the page where most of the traffic to your website comes to and so has the most potential for customers.

Products/Services Page

After scrolling through the home page, the visitor will want to know about how you can help them in more detail. There will be an introduction to this page and the individual products/services on the home page but the page itself is where you go into more detail and tell the customer why they need your products/services and how the products/services can benefit their business or everyday life.

It is a great idea to add some testimonials or case studies to this page to show the visitor that the services worked and were beneficial to others. Also, a contact section is perfect for this page as a visitor can ask you questions about the services or can get in touch with you in order to start working together.

Contact Page
Speaking of contacting you, visitors to your site will want an easy way to ask you questions and get in touch since they cannot ask you questions face to face in the current climate. The contact page should have a contact form as well as your phone number, email address as some people will want to directly contact you without entering their details into the form. This will generate more leads from visitors to your site.

About Page
Visitors to your website want to know who it is that they are buying from. They are much more likely to purchase a service or product from a business that they connect with having read their story and ultimately, from a business that they trust.

On this page, you should include a story about yourself and your journey up until now as well as the story of the business. Be as true to yourself when writing the story but of course only reveal what you feel comfortable revealing to strangers coming to your website.

Blog Page
Finally, a blog page is essential for a website as it allows the constant addition of new, relevant content onto your site. This page is where you will share news about your industry and business, as well as articles which may help a visitor.

The individual blog posts should not be in the main navigation of the website but should rather be content that accompanies your services, for example an accountant could write an article outlining the top 5 accounting tools for small businesses to use.

A blog helps drastically to improve your search engine optimisation and ranking on google within your industry. The more posts the better as you will climb up on the search engine rankings on Google, leading to more traffic to your website from the individual posts and hopefully more customers!
