Authentication added to API

We are releasing a new method of authentication to the site, mainly for use by the API.

Token based Basic Authentication!

What this means is that you can login using regular 'ol Basic Authentication to the API, and it will then associate those actions with your account. This will allow you to view the content you have created on your profile, as well for in the future when we added user specific API functionality.

So where does the token come into play? Instead of using your regular password for the Basic Auth, you now will generate Auth Tokens from your Settings/Security page and use these tokens as your password when authenticating. This will allow you to revoke tokens easily, have different applications use different tokens, and not expose your password via the Basic Auth.

If you would like more information, please visit the API Help Page.

If you run into any issues, or have any suggestions, feel free to contact us or leave an issue on the git repo.
